Port Alberni’s centralized wastewater treatment plant serves the local community of roughly 18,000 people. The original facility was constructed in the 1950’s and was in need of upgrades to meet current Provincial and Federal regulations. Designed by Associated Engineering and constructed by TriTech Group, the WWTP upgrades include new headworks screening equipment (supplied by JWC Environmental), new in-lagoon fine bubble aeration equipment (supplied by Nexom), new turbo blowers (supplied by Aerzen Canada), and UV disinfection equipment (supplied by Xylem-Wedeco)
