The residuals treatment facility (RTF) is a major part of the overall wastewater treatment project for the Capital Regional District (CRD) in Victoria BC. The facility will process 14,000 dry tonnes of residual solids from the new McLoughlin Point WWTP, and produce a dried Class A biosolids using anaerobic digestion process. The dried biosolids are then transported to industrial customers for use as an alternative fuel source.

Mequipco Ltd. was pleased to support this project with several key process equipment solutions, including a complete odour control package from Evoqua Water Technologies. The odour control system included duty/standby mist eliminators and exhaust fans, two biotrickling filter systems each sized for 1/2 of the required air flow rate, followed by one chemical scrubber sized for the complete air flow.
